A delightful smoky twist on classic apple crisp, using granny smith apples and a buttery crumble topping.

Ingredients
  

Apple Mixture

  • 5 lbs granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 pinch allspice
  • 1 pinch nutmeg

Crumble Topping

  • 0.5 cup flour
  • 1 cup oats
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 stick unsalted cold butter

Instructions
 

  • Place prepared apples in 9x13 pan and mix with apple ingredients.
  • For the crumble, mix dry ingredients in a bowl and cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until crumbly.
  • Spread evenly over apple mixture.
  • Cover pan with foil and place on preheated smoker.
  • Smoke at 350° F for 30 minutes.
  • Uncover and smoke for an additional 30 minutes or until apples are tender and crumb has turned golden brown.
